Page 76: Greeting
Blue Chaos Scanlations presents you Page 76 of Death Note. The story is getting interesting and the plot twist is strong in this one. Near’s SPK was dissolved by the vice-president, but they are still conducting their Kira investigation secretly. Meanwhile, Near pointed out that Mello is likely to contact one of the team and he will share what informations he has with Mello, especially about the possibility of the Second Kira (which is Light) being Kira. Then he pointed out that among the four man team, it is most likely that Mello will contact Hal Ridner, the only female member of Near’s team. In the end of the chapter, Hal brought Mello to Near’s headquarters and for the first time after some long years, Mello stands face-to-face with Near.
The most interesting thing in this chapter is Mello’s new appearance. Light made a point that Mello couldn’t have survived the explosion without any injuries, and yes he has been injured. But with a scar in his face an a “Kingdom Hearts II”-like jacket, he looks very badass now and for me he has become my no.1 personal favourite, dropping Ryuuzaki to spot no.2. Hal Ridner has also become my no.1 female character here. Her appeal is far more than Misa (Sayu and the others don’t even count). Especially after you see her “special” page on page 17, just who can resist a lingering eye like that? I hope this character won’t get killed soon. This character can prove to be a kind of… ahem, “fan service”… for the male readers, if you know what I mean…
